Do you want to add the non-profit donation forms to your WordPress site?

WPForms has a solution, it allows you to create a donation form easily. WPForms is not just a form plugin but it offers more features like accept recurring payments, Integration with PayPal and Stripe, Upload forms, Form abandonment management, signature forms, etc.

NOTE- To create the non-profit Donation form, you need to have the premium WPForms WordPress plugin.

In this article, I am going to tell you about the Donation forms and how we can create a Donation form in WordPress using the WPForms plugin.

    Buy WPForms Premium WordPress Plugin

    Create a Donation Form

The first step is to install and activate the WPForms WordPress plugin.

Once done, navigate to WPForms » Add New and click on create a new form.

You will see some predefined form templates, search for the donation form, and select it. You can give the form name any but to recognize it we keep it a Nonprofit donation form.

WPForms will create a donation form from the template. Now, you can edit the form as you want.

    Customize the Form Fields

The default donation forms have below fields

    • First and Last Name
    • Donation Amount
    • Email Address
    • Comment/Message

You can add or remove the fields as you want. You can drag the fields from the left sidebar and drop them to the form.

If you want to edit any field then click on the field, you will get the customization option for that particular field.

    Buy WPForms Premium WordPress Plugin

The donation form field is a single item field where the user can enter the amount they want. You can also use the multiple-choice or dropdown field for donations.

To add the multiple-choice field, drag the multiple items field from the Payments Fields.

Click on the field to edit the multiple items field.

You can give the label as a Donation amount or whatever you want.

By using multiple item fields, you can give choice to the users to select the predefined amount set by you. You can also add an item to enter the amount so that the user can enter the amount they want.

Scroll down and make the donation fields required. Check on the box.

Now, we have added the fourth option as entering the amount, when the user selected this the form should display the single item field.

To do so, click on the donation amount field to make changes.

Unclick the Required checkbox or users won’t be able to select the pre-defined donation amounts if that’s what they want to do.

Now, scroll down to the Conditionals and click on the enable conditional logic.

Then, select the option to Show this field if the Donation Amount is Enter Amount.

In this way the when the users want to enter the amount of their choice they can select the enter amount option and the donation form will display.

Once you have done all these changes and configurations, Save the form.

    Configure Forms General Setting

Once you create the nonprofit donation form, you will have to do some settings.

    Navigate to Settings » General.

Below are the general settings options available for your donation form.

    • Form Name– You can change the name of form here.
    • Form Description– Add the form description if you want.
    • Submit Button Text– You can set the submit button text here.
    • Spam Prevention- You can prevent spam submissions of the forms using the honeypot feature or Google reCAPTCHA. By default, this is enabled for all forms.
    • GDPR Enhancements- You can disable this option to avoid storing user’s information like IP address, user agents, etc.

Once you are all done with your settings save the donation form.

    Configure Form’s Notifications

By default, the notification is enabled on forms. When the user submits the donations you will receive the email confirmation for the same. You can manage all notifications settings from Notification.

You can turn off the notifications as well, but it is recommended to enable the notifications.

    Configure The Form Confirmation

The confirmation message will display when the user submits the donation. This is to let the users know that the donation has been successfully received by the intended person and also we can show them the next steps.

To add the confirmation you can navigate to Confirmation user the Settings tab.

    WPForms has three confirmations types.

Message- This is a default confirmation type in WPForms. You can customize the message which will display to the users.

Show Page- In this type of confirmation, we can show the particular page to the users when the donation is made.

Go to URL(Redirect)- In this type, you will send the user to the new website.

The default message is sufficient but if you would like to show the new page which more information about thanking the users you can choose the show page option.

    Configure Form’s Payment Setting’s

To accept the payment you need to configure the payment mode in donation forms.

WPForms supports PayPal and Stripe integration. To configure any payment mode, you will have to install the addon first.

I have written articles on PayPal and Stripe addon, you can go through them.

Click on the PayPal Standard. You will see some configuration settings.

I have explained all the above settings in my recent article about the PayPal addon. You can go through the article.

    • Payment Type- The payment type chooses as a donation.
    • Cancel URL- When the payment is failed you can redirect the user to a specific page.

Once you are done with payment settings, save it.

Now, your donation form is ready to go. But, first, you need to add it to the WordPress site.

    Add Non-Profit Donation Form

WordPress allows you to add the donation form in pages, posts, widgets, etc. To add the donation form, create a page or post and in the editor, click on the + sign and search for WPForms.

Add the newly created donation form. Once you added the donation form, the final form will look like this [This will be different in your case].
