When I was migrating my blog from Dreamhost to Bluehost, I had faced so many problems while migrating the database. This is because I have not used the database correctly means I could have used the database optimization, database repair plugin, but I didn’t. The final result was my database size goes on increasing.

Earlier, I have talked about the WP sweep and WP-Optimize WordPress plugin to make your database size small and how you can split your database file into smaller chunks so that you can import it easily.

Here I am going to discuss a very useful WordPress plugin WP-DBManager. I like all the features which WP-DBManager offers. It’s a free plugin anyone can take advantage of it.

Features

WP-DBManager allows us to optimize the WordPress database, repair, backup, restore the database, delete any backup, drop/empty tables and run any SQL queries. Also, you can schedule a backup, repair, optimize your database.

First, install the WP-DBManager WordPress plugin; you will see the database option on your WordPress dashboard. You can manage all the Database activities from here.

Database- In this section, you can see the database and table information of your blog. Here, you can easily find out which of your table has more records.

Backup DB- Here, you can backup your database on your server. You can either choose to GZIP or without compressing store it. This plugin automatically creates the folder in wp-content/backup-DB where all the backups are stored.

Note- After installing the plugin, please check whether the folder is automatically created or not if not then create it to avoid any loss.

Manage backup DB- Here, you can easily manage the backup database. You can delete it, restore it, download it or send it to your email address. If your database is deleted, lost, or anything weird happened then you can quickly restore it from here. Please restore the lasted database.

Optimize DB- You can quickly optimize your database table. Also, you get a choice to select the table to optimize.

Repair DB- You can repair your WordPress database if anything wrong happened. Here too, you will get a choice to select the tables.

Empty/drop tables- If you want to delete the entries from the specific table or drop the table, then you can do this here. I would suggest you be careful while doing anything here; otherwise, your blog will be a break.

Run SQL queries- Here, you can quickly run any queries on your tables.

DB option- In this section, you can configure the automatic schedule of backup of the database. Here, you can schedule the backup, optimize and repair the database. Here is what we are doing at ScrollBucks
